Good morning health blog readers, I was thinking about how I lost 11kg during this asuu strike, and I was amazed. The reality of it all just struck me.
Here's my secret:
1. I ate less starchy foods
Our major food in nigeria is mainly carbohydrate like: Garri, yam, pounded yam, indomie, semovita, akpu, spaghetti, Rice, cornflakes, bread, cocoyam, etc. This might be a little bit difficult but the key word is 'little'
2. I consumed less palm oil
3. I watch the salt intake (Maggi, Onga etc.)
Salt in itself has little to no calories, but over-consumption of salt leads to temporary weight gain as it causes the body to retain water,in order words, bloating, giving the illusion of weight gain.
4. I watched what I Drank
Soda/minerals like fanta and coke should be avoided and remember that some "healthy" drinks contain a lot of sugar to keep customers coming back. Nevertheless, avoid sugar, because sugar has an addictive nature.
5. I chose my meat wisely,i avoided red meat and ate more of chicken.
6. I didn't oven bake and oven fry (avoid deep frying)
Oven frying helps to save a bundle of calories and fat. Avoid akara and buns.
7. I avoided high calorie snacks like the sweet Fanvanille, gala, lacasera, chin chin, buns, Puff puff, plantain chips)
8. I ate spicy foods
Hot peppers have been shown to raise your metabolism, but the real Benefit of peppery food is that they slow your eating. Also spicy foods requires water; by increasing your water intake you feel full faster.
9. I ate more fiber
Fiber helps you feel full so eat your greens and fruits. Avoid banana though.
10.I danced
As I have found out, dancing is a very great form of exercise so instead of subjecting yourself to extreme work outs, why don't you dance that fat off!
