Why are Christians so gullible?

Christians think that to have faith means to believe anything you are told without supporting evidence. They even go as far as believing anything that is being said in churches and prayer houses (fellowships) There are those Christians who believe blindly, and certain cults and fraternities (such as Mormonism) teach that truth can be known through prayer. These philosophies are heretical to biblical Christianity and often lead to deception, it makes such gullible christians susceptible to conversion by the cults.

Even God told us to test things out and see things clearly:

Test everything. Hold on to the good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

God wants us to put everything to test. He doesn't teach blind faith as many Christians are led to believe.

God said in the book of Isiah 'come now and let us reason together' . God cannot give us thinking faculties and then deny us the capacity to use it as regards to his words. He endowed us with a mind, so that we can use it unhindered.
We are encouraged to seek wisdom, and inquire.

The Bible teaches a rational faith,in praying and worshiping God we are encouraged to use our minds. It is for this same issue of rationalizing the bible that it's said that a lawyer cannot be a true born again...lol.

From time to time, I hear countless stories of pastors sleeping with women all in the name of delivering miracles and deliverance. How can you justify that it is when a man of God penis enters you that you conceive, eh?.

Pastors also defraud their congregation, these people consists of poor market sellers and traders, and yet these pastors tour the world in private jets and with a 10-man bodyguards. Whoosh!, I won't even go about the disturbing practices and messages that are being preached in this churches that the congregation actually believes and follows through with it!

I know that my country Nigeria is one liberally sentimental society where whatever you write or say about religious practices, pastors and idol worshipping are quick to be termed as blasphemy . That's when people would remember the phrase 'judge not' and a host of others, but it is the harsh fact and the truth must be told to prevent further downpour of irreparable curses on ourselves all in the name of Christianity!
It's now operation #FreeTheCongregation

Some Words Nigerians Say - Here's 20

1. I thought to myself

That's kind of how it works. Well, at least until they create brain wifi. Or are you so used to thinking for other people that you had to make the distinction.

2. I saw it with my own eyes

That's really convincing. Here I was, thinking that you saw it with someone else's eyes.

3. Can I ask you a question? / can I have a word with you?

You just did, and your limit is up.

4. Did I wake you?

No. Sometimes I like to lay limp and breath heavily with my eyes closed.

5. I don't mean to interrupt...

The hell you didn't!. What were your intentions then?

6. Can we talk?

You obviously can, so are you asking me if I'm a mute?

7. To tell you the truth, to be honest with you, truth be told, I'm not going to lie...

So basically, what you're saying is that without this disclaimer, I should only expect complete bullshit to come flying out of your mouth? Thanks for making an exception for me.

8. If I were you...

I thank my God you aren't, because If you were me, you'd be talking to an idiot that is imagining that he is me.

9. We can agree to disagree

We could but I'd have to disagree with you on that.

10. God Bless Nigeria

Who the hell came up with this slogan?
We are already blessed so why then are u rubbing it in God's face?

11. Good things come to those who wait

You lazy people sure are good at coming up with slogans.

12. Why are all the good men taken?
good man?, come on girl, do you actually mean someone that's gonna put up with your bullshit!.

13. I need some space

That's great, it's all around you.

14. Money doesn't buy happiness

Duh, how would your broke ass know?

15. You are what you eat

How dare you call me a cannibal.

16. I beg to differ

Oh please, I would really love to see you beg, though.

17. Curiosity killed the cat

I no wan die o, so I guess I shouldn't be curious to know what it was curious about

18. How do I look?
With u gazing so hard at me right now, I think u look like a total idiot

19. Think outside of the box

Why didn't you tell me that earlier. I've been sitting in this damned box for 4 days straight, trying to figure out why I was in it to begin with.

20. The glass is half full or half empty

It really all depends on the state of the glass prior to it being a "middle glass?". If it were empty, it's now half full; if it were full, it's now half empty. So, I'm not doubting that it can be, but I do doubt that it's solely up to me to decide whether it is or isn't.

I DONATE MY FAKE FRIENDS TO GOD

Even if my country does seem to have forgotten me, I have always thought about it. I donate my fake friends as burnt offerings unto the lord. Lord use them to make me a better person in life.

"Trouble chokes me. I am worried. Where is God? Does he know my troubles?, are my prayers being heard by him? Is he close, distant, or just quitely watching?"

I hear certain people, especially in nollywood movies ask such questions. But really, these kind of questions may seem rhetorical but there is need for it to be answered.

Some of us long to be as blameless as Job in the bible, but soon our righteousness turns into a self-righteousness that rules us. We become a religious zealot, we attack people over religion , we put ourselves high above others and start to see others as devil incarnates, we cram the whole scriptures in the bible and boastfully recite it to our friends, we begin to compare people, we may long to be reconciled with God, but we can't stop wanting to be the center of the universe ourselves.

Those who claim to be my friend but aren't u could keep up with your pretense and backbitting. It's alright...I donate you all to my oga at the top

Tomorrow would be better

Happy Sunday people!.

I am sorry I haven't been around for quite some time now. I was busy with my constitutional law assignment.

It is amazing how the Internet is changing people's lives. People are able to quickly do research and gather data on the web, navigate through websites flawlessly, and most people are able to find anything on the Internet in ten seconds flat thanks to search engines such as Google.

Most recently my education has been connected to facebook I get my learning materials and updates from the site. Some of my teachers have Facebook pages for their courses and I get updates from their classes right on my class Facebook home page. Perhaps, teachers should think of using Facebook to post assignments as well, it's convenient for the student who is already on Facebook to quickly check their assignments.

We have reached the era where students can post their questions on their class' Facebook wall so not to interrupt the lesson; these questions might even spark discussions amongst the class that teachers can directly facilitate.

Well, I haven't got time for long talks this sunday morning, I Just want to thank God for everything. This has been very busy week for everyone in school ,with all the rush to pay tuition fees and the drama that comes with the registration , who just isn't tired?.

I pray tomorrow would be better.

Finally the ASUU strike is over

Honestly, even before I went to university, I have this urge to write on things I feel strongly about, but like the lazy person thatI am, I realise writing may not be my cup of tea after all. However, sometimes, I couldn't resist the urge to put my thought into writing on some of the things I feel strongly about.  Some I sent to media houses for publication and recently, with the advent of social media, I post my thoughts here

To say our Universities are in decay is to say the least. The problems are to many, ranging from infrastructural decay, underfunding, overcrowded classes and hostels as well as some lazy, unfit and ungodly lecturers. That is why many of us hold paper qualification which in all honesty we cannot defend. That was why I identified with ASUU struggle and always argue that it was we the students that ought to go on strike not the lecturers.

I think that was why to me, ASUU struggle was commendable since it was aimed at making the system a better one. Unfortunately, there seems to be a loss of confidence and lack of support to ASUU in its struggle. Rightly or wrongly, majority of students and parent view ASUU strike mainly as struggle by the lecturers to earn more pay nothing more.
ASUU lackadaisical attitude towards toward the actions and or inactions of its members reaffirm the belief among people that ASUU's struggle was not at all about rescuing our university system from collapse.
The recent strike has really changed my perception about ASUU totally. I have come to realise that all along I have been wrong in thinking that ASUU was for championing the cause of education not that of its members. I felt betrayed that I was really pool to have always argued in support of ASUU during the seven months old strike during which we stayed at home. I came to realise that all the rhetoric by ASUU that all what it was doing was to salvage the system was after all a ruse.

Many lecturers teach in more than two or three universities at the same time and some of them are even active members of ASUU. They hardly teach student half of what they ought to teach because of greediness and ASUU is doing nothing about it. They give too much of their time to private practice of their profession while at the same time being paid from the public fund for supposed teaching that they have relegated. They are busy abusing politician for illegal accumulation of wealth.
ASUU needs to sit up and do the right thing if it needs the support of the people. Let ASUU be seeing as champion of a good University system even if it means going against its member. You can't earn the confidence of the populace if you are morally bankrupt. And I am sorry to say many ASUU members are misfits.

Are u caged?...please let go

(For those who still remain in their comfort zone when the door of freedom and opportunity is wide open)

Every day I passed his cage,

I listened to him sing his song.

Though he sang with beauty,

He was not where he belonged.

His plumage was stunning.

His cage was made of gold.

I thought, what a sad place,

For simply growing old.

I quickly opened the door,

His eyes shone with fire.

I could see he remembered

He burned with desire.

He slowly crept forward,

Moving closer to the door.

But suddenly he stopped,

And he would go no more.

I tried to coax him out.

I spoke to him of flight.

I told him that as a bird

It was his natural right.

I became more surprised

The lovely bird began to speak.

He said he once knew freedom,

And no longer could he seek.

He had flown before,

Though now lived in a cage.

I tried to offer comfort,

His fears I could not assuage.

He said he made his peace.

His needs were being met.

Why worry about the rest?

It was best just to forget.

Yes, said I, but what of joy

And the beauty of the air,

The wind in your wings,

The sky, blue and clear?

All the flowers to taste,

Their nectar on your tongue.

Wouldn't you sing sweeter,

If you could bask in the sun?

Maybe so, he replied,

But that is not to be.

I stay here by choice

This cage is my security.

Excuse me, my eyes are up here!

I'll tell you no lie, as men pass me by they behave like immature little pests. They oooh and they ahhh, as they stare at my bra And check out my large, ample breasts.

Now I'm not a prude, but it's sleazy and crude how these guys make it all seem to be. Their manners go down the loo, as they gawk at my boobs.

They don't respect ANY woman they see!   I don't mind being admired, but this one guy got fired for greeting me with language so offensive and shady, it seems his boss was a man, who took a civilized stand that every woman ought to be treated like a lady.

Yes, there are some gents, who have common sense when addressing a well endowed female.

But the battle goes on, with every Tom, Dick and Harry, because most of these fools have no manners at all. It's like they think with their pants , you don't have to wear high heels to stand tall!.

They'll just keep on staring and I'll just keep on musing. Though in the long run, it's no use, I fear because their looks are so irritatingly ugly, I just feel like yelling.... Hey dude....my eyes are up here!

Where's my portrait?

Dear artist, would you please paint a portrait of me
I need you to capture me with your oil
Elevate me with your brilliant perception
And the true colors of your soul's work

Can you show how pleasant I once was
I will give you everything you need
I want to see the joy I once experienced
The ones that now take seed under the lid

Please brush away my deepest flaws
Sweep me off on a trip in time
A place I will never be odd
And love would be forever mine

This might be a lot to ask
I know that it is an awful lot to require
Of one who paints but lack...
And strives to retire

Imagine my elation
When you said you would try your best
I couldn't wait to see your rendition
As I put on my most pretty dress

I sat down for so long
Time flew, it seemed like ages

You said my portrait was completed
But...you handed me a blank page.

This is a funny case...ok, may be not so funny

When I read the case of the young man who dragged closeup to court because he didn't see 'the closeup effect'.  I was amused. I almost burst into laughter. The man claimed that he has refused to attract a girl and that he has been slapped at work by his boss, because he didn't have the 'fresh breath' as advertised by closeup. I pity close up oo, it would be tough coming up with a reasonable defense. *yawn*

Baddest bitch paranoia

These days females are obsessed with being the "Baddest Bitch." I turned on the television to a reality TV show on dstv, and I saw women arguing, battling, and competing about who was the "Baddest Bitch." I clicked on facebook the other day and there was a women venting, saying she needed to be the "Baddest Bitch" because that's what the guys preferred at her school and in her neighborhood. Maheeda and Cossy striving to surpass one another in their nudity craze. Miley Cyrus ambitious to be the hustler in hollywood. Little wonder Liam dumped her.

But I've got news for you: Real men are not looking for a woman whose aspirations are to become the "Baddest Bitch." Laying down with the "Baddest Bitch" will get you the worst kind of fleas. Real men want women with aspirations of becoming the greatest Queen. Women who strive to become the "Baddest Dog" will only attract the reflection of themselves: another Dog. Ladies, worry about becoming the best "you", defer your gratification for a few years, step outside of your comfort zone, expand your mind, and I promise you will not have to seek happiness in a man who will never appreciate you because he doesn't love himself. You will enjoy more decades of happiness because of the relatively small investment you made in yourself, and you will love yourself for it. When you love yourself, you never have to settle. And if you happen to be a beautiful queen "WITH" the substance to go behind it, than even better.

What Jayz and Beyonce did for their child

So blue ivy asked her rich mama and papa for a horse and she got one a $75k arabian horse, wow!!!. I also recall they bought an $80k diamond encrusted barbie on her first birthday and an additional $95k on roses, $30k on costumes, jewelry, and toys for baby Blue Ivy's friends and their parents, and a $2.4k cake. Jayz even proclaimed Blue ivy as the spoilt child ever. This has got me thinking of all the stuff they must have bought all in her name. Her diapers, meals, toys, and a host of others. They aren't the only ones spoiling their children with extravagant gifts, I just think that this is the latest trend with these national and international celebrities.

Thank God I didn't miss it

Today was somewhat of a drama. It probably isn't a good way to start the academic year. I woke up by 4am in preparation for my journey to the airport. Time wasn't on my side as an examination that was put on hold as a result of the asuu strike was scheduled at 9am. The MMIA wasn't operating so I opted for the local airport and I was put on the Arik airlines. As the plane took off my thoughts wandered, I took deep breaths and mildly stroked my nonexistent beards. I looked at my wristwatch...7:41am!. I started to panic, my mind was in a state of azontoic frenzy.

When do I get to the examination hall?

How do I organize myself when I finally reach my destination?. This was no time for jokes, my professor obviously didn't have time for one. He announced his philosophy examination just a day after resumption. Why?. Most students haven't resumed school yet and some were still on vacation.

I arrived enugu at 8:47 and immediately took a cab to school. The hostels were locked so I had to change into my white and black uniform in the toilet! but by the time I got to the exam hall I was 30 minutes late for the exam. I explained myself to my supervisor and lecturerer and even showed them my flight ticket. I was given extra time to revise my work before the submission of my exam scripts. Thanks to God that I wrote the examination and finished with satisfaction.

Should it be called christmas or x-mas?

We claim to celebrate Christmas then why do we replace christ with an x, thus Christmas becomes xmas. I could remember that the former colour of Christmas was green before it was unceremoniously changed to red following a coca cola advert in old times. Green signifies abundance and hope but red signifies evil and danger.

I hear people greeting family and friends 'merry xmas' what about the Christ for which is the main purpose of our celebration.

Greeting cards and phones have made it possible for people to remove christ from the mass. Most handsets allow 160 letters per sms. So is it too much to give six letters out of 160 to honour Christ?. On television, during christmas many channels flash merry xmas on the screen instead of merry Christmas. I wonder what they are trying to save. Time or space?.

Why do people replace Christ with an x?

Many people would confess that they do not know why, others might say that because it is fashionable. Whatever the reason.,those who replace Christ with an x probably do not know it's the devil's trick to remove christ from Christmas. By removing Christ, the reason for the season is removed. No wonder many people forget what Christmas is all about and celebrate it with all manner of merry making like eating, drinking, clubbing, stealing, vanity, fornicating, etc without Christ!

X represents:

1. The roman figure 10. Is Christ number 10 in your life?

2. It is an indication of error in testing. Your school teachers use red ink to indicate 'x' on a wrong answer. Is Christ a wrong answer in your life?

3. X is used as in 'x-rated' film. Meaning that it is not good for children viewing. Is Christ bad for your children?

4. X is an unknown object or quantity in mathematics. Is Christ an unknown God to you?

5. It is one of the last letters in the alphabet. Should Christ come last to you?

Please let us all give this a rethink as this new year fades away for yet another Christmas.

MILEY CYRUS GUIDE TO GETTING A BOYFRIEND

The Miley Cyrus mania won't be over soon, she really came in like a wrecking ball this year. I couldn't help laughing at the miley 'parody' clips I downloaded from vuclip.com yesterday. It was hilarious, but intuitive. I have loved miley as the 'hannah montana', the brand with which she widely associated with. Now miley is out and wide with the tatoos, piercings, short hair, skimpy dresses, and embarrasing stunts on camera. She has taught me how to hook up with a guy with these:

1. I must stick out my tongue and be intimate with a hammer

2. I must learn how to twerk

3. I must get naked and sing

4. I must dress like a teddy bear

SO LONG A LETTER

I didn't get much cards this christmas season?.

Are cards more expensive than they used to be?, are people tired of weaving together those refreshing words?. I really don't know, afterall,I thought that the beautiful art of letter writing was facing extinction until recently when it suddenly barged into our consciousness? Those who might contend that letter writing may have fallen on hard times are obviously referring to the use of this elegant art as a political weapon of sort. I have lived in Nigeria all my life and it is difficult to find a credible reason to live in an incredible country, given the practice of the corrupt, present leaders in the nation. That's why I believe that Obasanjo's letter to Jonathan is a calculated effort to destabilize the country. The tone and content of the letter has set the nation on a state of alert and anxiety.

There have been some written letters in the past but that era has become history. Not many of such letters that have the. Capacity of tearing open a dam of public reactions have been written since then.

Okay, so what's my point here? The freedom of expression as stipulated in the constitution does not mean that one should commit libel or use inciting statement to set the nation ablaze. A missile has been launched into the seat of power. I heard that Obasanjo insulted The Vanguard when they contacted him. He called them idiots...lol.

Anyway, I think that those accusations coming from a man of his status in the country should be investigated.

I pretend you never left

You broke my heart when you left, there was no fanfare of trumpets, no thunder rolling storms.
It was quiet like the last sigh expelled before death.
I had no idea that my soul had been packed between your neatly pressed sweaters and slacks. As you carried your suitcase away, I told myself
that you were going on a vacation and would return. I continued this charade until I began to believe.
Now I'm so good at it, that I pretend you never left.

My favourite verse of the bible - Romans 1:16

"I am a part of the fellowship of the Unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit Power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, mundane talking, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by presence, learn by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power. My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, back up, let up, or shut up until I've preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go until He returns, give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He comes to get His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My colors will be clear for 'I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.." (Romans 1:16)

Happy New year?

Another year passes
Survived by the masses
Friends dead in car crashes
Been through love, pain and backlashes

Growing stronger to be the best
The loudest and the highest
Never would I cry for fear or joy
Regret or sadness
I've struggled through the years, yearning
I've learnt by having been burned 'n' burning

Revolving around the sun with evolving personal problems
Everyone is out for themselves
While the nation's problem, we can't solve them

A year is gone in living, killing
And killing for living
Fighting for causes to which there's no winning
Conferences, accords, sanctions and peace treaties
Children abused, fighting
Because of hunger and being needy

Some fight with weapons against those without armour
For pride and cheap honour
But terrorism is a suicide bomber
You can calm me no longer
Hypocrisy is growing stronger
For millions, surviving is getting harder

Years can't pass severe and peaceful
Because our bombs are nuclear and atomic
And whether you are a christian
Jewish or islamic
All of our choices are still economic

Billions of naira spent in fighting wars
With money that could be used to alleviate poverty
Still no one sees what seems to be evil and greedy

A year in need spent naively in pursuing the Nigerian dream
Fast cars and stars but nothing is as it seems
In a world so fake
One day is all it takes...
You could be living the life
And die in a quake

So let's take this year and remember that which it taught you;
To be thoughtful, a friend someone can talk to
Remember in a world of war, all we can afford
Are the people we love, their comfort and support
Treat others equal and never be deceitful
Call me hopeless, but all I want is for my country to be peaceful.

Happy New Year!!!
